Moons House looks out to sea along a North Devon combe; it is a holiday house for romantics, naturalists, surfers, walkers and builders of sandcastles. Here it is possible to enjoy the unspoilt wildness of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty from the comforts of a warm house - with a sedum roof.

 

The House is approached along increasingly narrow lanes, then a private drive with a hardcore road. Inside it is stylishly rustic with high exposed beams and lovely views to the sea. Much of the surrounding area is owned by the national trust and the cadbury trust. The valley, cliffs, and area surrounding the house are rich in wildlife. There is a recently established pond in the meadow below the house (please be aware with children), surrounded by a dead hedge (designed to be dead rather than afflicted!)

 

The house has 3 bedrooms, two with double 5' beds one with a single plus two bunks, the bottom one 2'6". There is also a cot available. The shower room and bathroom both have a loo and basin. The sitting room is huge, with high exposed roof beams, a wood burner, two comfy leather sofas and a pouffe. There is a handsome oak dining table with seating for eight. The well provided kitchen is only partially seperated from the sitting room to enable cheerful banter to pass freely between the two rooms. The utility room houses machines for washing up and washing, plus a fridge freezer. The porch along with accommodating coats and boots has a (folded) small snooker table and a tumble dryer. In front of the house there is mown grass, a picnic table and a steep bank down to the field (beware of toddlers); behind is a flowering meadow. Water comes from our borehole.

 

Moons house is a wonderful place for a relaxed and interesting holiday.
